Good to know

Your questions,
answered.

Beginning something new should feel clear. Here is what to expect from our teaching, your first four weeks and your regular practice.

What makes The People’s Pilates different?+

We combine the energy and value of a group with the individual attention associated with personal training. Classes are capped at four, follow a clear progression and use the complete classical apparatus—not just the Reformer.

Is this personal training or a group class?+

It sits comfortably between the two. You share the studio with up to three other people, while your instructor observes your movement, gives individual cues and helps you progress at the right pace. You are taught—not simply asked to follow along.

I am a beginner. Is Reformer Pilates suitable for me?+

Yes. You do not need to be flexible or already fit. Everyone new to the studio begins with the four-week Fundamentals programme, where we teach the equipment and movement foundations step by step.

What happens after the four-week Fundamentals programme?+

Your Fundamentals group progresses naturally into Pilates 1. Most clients reserve the same day and time each week through a monthly membership, allowing the instructor to know their movement and build consistent progress.

Am I too old to begin Pilates?+

No. Pilates can support strength, balance, mobility, posture and confidence at many ages. We also offer Active Ageing classes, generally suited to people around 70 and beyond. Contact us if you would like help choosing the right starting point.

Can Pilates help with back pain or injury?+

Pilates is not medical treatment, but controlled movement and strength work may support many people. Please tell us about diagnoses, injuries or surgery before booking. We may recommend Pilates Modified, some Pilates 1:1 sessions or professional medical guidance first.

What is the difference between Mat and Reformer Pilates?+

Both use the same underlying principles. The Reformer and wider studio apparatus add spring resistance, feedback and support. This can help you understand the work more clearly and develop the strength and control that carry into matwork.

Why are classes limited to four people?+

Four is small enough for the instructor to see alignment and control, give individual feedback and adapt the challenge. It is large enough to retain the energy and affordability of learning alongside others.

What should I wear?+

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and lets the instructor see your general alignment. Avoid very loose clothing. Grip socks are useful and may be required for hygiene and safety.

How often should I come?+

For most people, one or two well-taught sessions each week can create meaningful progress. Consistency matters more than intensity, which is why our membership model reserves your regular place.

What if I need to miss my regular class?+

Memberships are built around a reserved weekly place. Make-up options may be available within the studio policy and time window. Please check the current terms in Momence or ask us before joining.
